Semantic-Based Document Retrieval Using Spatial Distributions of Concepts

Terry L. Ruas and William I. Grosky

Based on our indexing approach from content-based image retrieval, we devise a representation for a text document, based on the spatial distribution of content semantics, utilizing lexical cohesion. We perform several experiments demonstrating the efficacy of our approach over the standard bag-of-words (BOW) approaches, both syntactically and semantically based.
